Loosing your identity

identitycrisis

I saw a man who stood in a dark corner, he looked calm with no emotion shown and just from nowhere I see this man peel of his facial skin and give to some men who gave him a briefcase of money in exchange, the man with no face took the money and left. As I witnessed this, to my utmost disbelief I asked the man who gave him the money if this was legal to do and he responded in the affirmative.

The actions witnessed brought me back to earth, scary right? while I meditated on what happened, it was revealed to me that those who follow Christ do not know who they truly are and because of that, they conform to the world’s standard, thinking its the right thing to do.

There is a saying that goes “If you can’t beat them you join them” this statement is so wrong and a lot of us have partook in it one way or the other. We need to know who we are in Christ and If anyone asks you who your identity is in, without the benefit of a doubt you say your identity is in Christ. God created humans to have unique characteristics and purpose. However, he designed us also to have a commonality of contentment with our lives through His will. We discover our true identity the more we are drawn closer to Him. There are some examples in the scripture that shows how some people lost their identity due to monetary gain and possessions, Judas Iscariot sold his identity to the Pharisees just for 30 pieces of silver coins, Luke 25 contains the whole story of what happened.

Looking into the story of Judas Iscariot, he was one of the disciples who heard the teachings of Jesus but never gave room for Christ’s word to change his heart, he knew that the Pharisees were looking for ways to kill Jesus and he was bribed with money to deliver Jesus to them. Most of us are like that, a friend tells you to manipulate a document and you will get a promotion or a raise at the office or you should hang out with a married man just for a temporary want. Some of us do not know what God has placed in us, that is the reason why we make rash decisions just for a temporary desire. A lot of us have compromised our standards which ends up with a consequence down the line. God is not happy with your actions of having to sell your morals, values, standards, integrity for monetary possessions. Know that, there is still a way out, know that the FATHER will surely provide all your needs, He has promised you that he will give you your daily bread so it means that He will provide you with what HE knows you really need and not what you want. I understand you might have bills to pay or school fees to pay and you desire that promotion but always remember that HE does care for you and sees your troubles. Why don’t you go to HIM and tell Him your desires and ask from Him to show you what you need to do, to make a way for you.

These are some scriptures that show you how God sees you and what He wants you to see yourself as
